Windows 95
Internet Setup
- Get the Win95 floppies/CDRom ready.
- Is Dial-up Networking (DUN) already existent? If so, go on, if not install it!
- Go to My Computer | DUN | Double-click on Make New Connection
- Enter in something to identify the icon e.g. Dundee Internet, click next
- Enter in phone number: Click here for current list
- Click next
- Click next, and click finish
- Right mouse click on that Dundee Internet icon
- Go to the properties menu
- Uncheck Use country code and area code
- Click on Server Type
- Uncheck login to network
- Uncheck NetBEUI and IPS/SPX
- Click on TCP/IP Settings
- Make sure Server assigned IP address and Server assigned name server addresses
are marked.
- Make sure check marks are in the last two boxes
- Click okay 2 times
- Drag icon to desktop if you like to make a shortcut and just say yes to that
dialog box.
- Close DUN and open Control Panel
- .Go to Network
- If you don't use it take it out! Like remove IPX/SPX, and NetBEUI. Most times
only Dial-up Adapter and TCP/IP is left
- Double-click on TCP/IP
- IP Address tab, Obtain an IP address automatically
- WINS Configuration tab, Disable WINS Resolution
- Gateway tab, should be blank
- DNS Configuration tab, Disable DNS
- Click okay twice, and you'll get a you have to restart blah de blah
- That's it restart and you're happy!
