Internet Setup


  1. Get the Win95 floppies/CDRom ready.
  2. Is Dial-up Networking (DUN) already existent? If so, go on, if not install it!
  3. Go to My Computer | DUN | Double-click on Make New Connection
  4. Enter in something to identify the icon e.g. Dundee Internet, click next
  5. Enter in phone number: Click here for current list
  6. Click next
  7. Click next, and click finish
  8. Right mouse click on that Dundee Internet icon
  9. Go to the properties menu
  10. Uncheck Use country code and area code
  11. Click on Server Type
  12. Uncheck login to network
  13. Uncheck NetBEUI and IPS/SPX
  14. Click on TCP/IP Settings
  15. Make sure Server assigned IP address and Server assigned name server addresses are marked.
  16. Make sure check marks are in the last two boxes
  17. Click okay 2 times
  18. Drag icon to desktop if you like to make a shortcut and just say yes to that dialog box.
  19. Close DUN and open Control Panel
  20. .Go to Network
  21. If you don't use it take it out! Like remove IPX/SPX, and NetBEUI. Most times only Dial-up Adapter and TCP/IP is left
  22. Double-click on TCP/IP
  23. IP Address tab, Obtain an IP address automatically
  24. WINS Configuration tab, Disable WINS Resolution
  25. Gateway tab, should be blank
  26. DNS Configuration tab, Disable DNS
  27. Click okay twice, and you'll get a you have to restart blah de blah
  28. That's it restart and you're happy!
